Avenue Recycling partnered with Usel to support mattress recycling, landfill diversion and employment opportunities in Northern Ireland.
Avenue Recycling announced a strategic partnership with Usel (Ulster Supported Employment and Learning) to support delivery of a mattress and carpet recycling contract for Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council.
The partnership combined environmental goals with social impact by supporting employment opportunities for people living with a disability or health condition.
At the time, Usel’s mattress recycling operation recovered around 96% of each mattress, with the remaining material sent to energy from waste. Avenue Recycling also supported Usel through haulage and metal-recycling services.
The collaboration demonstrated how commercial and social-enterprise organisations can work together within the circular economy.
Avenue Recycling continued its long-standing waste-management partnership with Belfast's Continental Christmas Market in 2022.
Avenue Recycling was awarded a seven-year brown bin collection contract covering approximately 59,500 households across Antrim and Newtownabbey.
Avenue Recycling featured in the February 2023 edition of Irish Trucker.
